SPOKANE, Wash. – Greg Montgomery won the men’s title and Hillary Holt won the women’s crown, leading The College of Idaho cross country teams at the Runners Soul/Erik Anderson Invitational at Plantes Ferry Park.
The Lady Yotes placed five runners in the Top-15 to win the team title against an elite field, including NAIA Top-10 teams Carroll and Lewis-Clark State and Division I teams Gonzaga and Washington State. The Coyote men finished second overall to L-C State, but defeated rival Eastern Oregon by one point.
Montgomery recorded a time of 24:17, equaling his time from last season's NAIA Championship, defeating unattached runner Jonathan Lafler by four seconds. It was his second win of the 2012 season and his sixth title overall. Dominic Bolin placed seventh overall with his time of 25:41, with Jason Hunt taking 26th overall (26:18).
Holt won the overall title on the 5,000-meter course with a time of 17:23.37, 16 seconds ahead of Karlee Coffey of Eastern Oregon, last season's CCC champion and NAIA national runner-up. Sora Klopfenstein took fourth (18:16.92), while a trio of Yotes placed tenth through 12th - Kaitlyn Gerard (18:44.96), Andi Hayes (18:48.15), and Kenna Middleton (18:48.98), each ahead of Carroll's No. 2 runner.
