LINCOLN, Neb.—
Three of Concordia’s five women’s golfers lowered their score in the second round of play at the NAIA Preview, but the Cavaliers fell a single spot to place fifth in the team standings on Tuesday.

Concordia (324-320—644) dropped four strokes off its opening-round score but was edged by Nebraska’s Bellevue University (327-314—641) after the Bruins carded a 314, the third lowest score of the day, to defeat the Cavs by three strokes.

Lubbock Christian (302-290—592) crushed the competition with a team score of a 4-over 290 in the final tour of the course at Wilderness Ridge, the site of the 2012 NAIA National Championships.
Lubbock Christian defeated William Woods (309-307—616) by 24 strokes for the team title.

Individually, a pair of LCU golfers topped the chart with Sinae Montoya (74-66—140) topping teammate Anna Schopp (74-71—145) for medalist honors. Montoya’s 6-under 66 on Tuesday was the overall low for the tournament by a whopping five strokes as Schopp posted the only other sub-par round out of the 107 competitors.

Concordia’s Sunny Powers (74-79—153), a first-day co-leader, after firing a 2-ver on Monday, fell to a tie for eighth place with a 79. Despite dropping a stroke in the second round, Jenifer Gibbons (81-80—161) slipped one position to 20th place overall.

Madison Alamillo (83-83—166) repeated her performance with her second straight 83 and Patricia Little (86-80—166) shaved six strokes off her opener to share 25th place with her fellow Cavalier. Holly Winburn (88-81—169) outdid Little by one swing by eliminating seven strokes from her Monday total.

Concordia returns to action on Oct. 5-6 when it travels to the Saint Martin’s Invitational held at the Olympia Country Club.
