EUGENE, Ore.  – In a game marred by 41 fouls and six caution cards, The College of Idaho men’s soccer team emerged with a 4-1 victory on Friday night in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. The Yotes scratched and clawed back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to score four unanswered in the final 45 minutes.

NCU set the tone in the first half and broke through with their only goal in the 26th minute. A long pass from Stephen Rock drew College of Idaho keeper Colin Benham-Marin up in the box, but Nathan Ruter was on top of the ball and after chipping it past the goalie, punched in the empty-net score.

The College of Idaho needed just five minutes into the second half to score the equalizer as Emilio Yomaha (pictured) scored. Then three minutes later, Joseph Bolin scored off a pass from Drew Smith for what would be the game winner.

An insurance goal was added in the 57th minute by Michael Meyer and then a final cushion was added I the 89th minute by Chanjerai Simpson.

Overall, The College of Idaho (1-5-2, 1-3 CCC) out-shot the Beacons 18-10 and held an 11-2 advantage in shots-on-goal. Benham-Marin needed to make just one save en route to the victory.

In between the pipes for the Beacons, Erik Carrazco made seven saves.

Northwest Christian (2-6-1, 0-4-1 CCC) will be back in action on Saturday as they play host to Oregon Tech at 7:00 pm. The Yotes head north to Salem to take on Corban University.
