Concordia Men's Cross Country Chosen Adidas Team of the Week
LAGRANDE,Ore.- The Concordia University Men's Cross Country team has been chosen the Adidas Team of the Week for September 24-30. The team tied for first place out of 22 teams at the 38th Annual Charles Bowles Invitational held at Bush's Park in Salem,Ore. on Saturday.
" It was a great opportunity for us to compete with some of the best NAIA teams in the nation, stated head coach Isaac Frederick. " We were very pleased with the way our men competed at the meet, however, we left the meet knowing that we are capable of running better and I really feel we will continue to improve as the season progresses."
The Cavaliers scored 91 points to tie No. 5-ranked British Columbia for top honors. The Cavs defeated No. 6-ranked Lewis-Clark State (110 points) and No. 16-ranked Eastern Oregon (146 points). Along with the nationally-ranked Mountaineers, six other CCC schools competed in the race.
Three runners finished inside the top 10 led by freshman Sergio Gonzalez placing fifth overall by covering the 8,000-meter course in 24:53.
Concordia returns to action on Oct. 13 when they will compete at the CCC Preview meet held at Lents Park in Portland.
