Concordia Remains No. 2 in Poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo.
—The Concordia women's soccer team held its position at No. 2 in the nation, though it gained a single point in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll released Wednesday.
Concordia stayed at No. 2 despite posting impressive wins over then-No. 12 Hastings and then-No. 3 Lindsey Wilson at the Cavalier Cup over the weekend.
Defending national champion Lee University, meanwhile, remained at No. 1 after staying idle last week. Lee will open its season on Friday, Sept. 7 when its travel to face No. 19 Northwood University.
Elsewhere in the poll, Lindsey Wilson stayed at No. 3 after going 1-1 at the Cavalier Cup, while Embry-Riddle, another Cavalier Cup participant, fell one spot to No. 5. The Cavalier Cup's final participant, Hastings College, fell four spots to No. 16.
The poll also had some movement for future Concordia opponents as the University of Mobile moved up one spot to No. 4, while William Carey entered the poll for the first time this season at No. 20. Concordia-Irvine, meanwhile, who the Cavs play on Friday, Sept. 7, remained at No. 18.
Finally, Southern Oregon and The Master's College, who the Cavs beat 2-1 to open its season, both finished outside of the top 25, but rank No 28 and No. 30, respectively.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conference/independent/unaffiliated groups. For a complete women's soccer ratings calendar, click
