Central's Second Half Goals Defeat Northwest

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington scored two second half goals to break a scoreless tie and defeat Northwest University, 2-0, late this afternoon in 84 degree weather.
 
CWU’s Carson McKole scored the first Wildcat goal at the 71:15 mark in the second half as she put one in from 25 yards out, directly in front of the goal. Jami Marzano had the assist. A little over 8 minutes later (79:39), Kelsey Villegas scored her unassisted goal for Central as she gathered a rebound off her own blocked shot to put it past the NU goalkeeper.
 
Central Washington  (1-2-1) out shot Northwest 19-7, as their defense limited the Eagle to only two shots in the second half. NU goalkeeper, Mariah O’Brien, had 8 saves for the game while CWU’s Kayla Lipston earned the shutout with 3 saves. CWU had the edge on corner kicks, 3-2
 
Northwest U. (1-5-1) will return home and will host Pacific Lutheran on Monday, Sept. 1 at 3:30 p.m. in Kirkland.
