EUGENE, Ore.  – Freshman sensation Kristen Fulbright did it again on Saturday, finishing her second straight double-overtime shutout as the Northwest Christian University women’s soccer team tied with Pacific University, 0-0.

NCU has not allowed a goal in over two complete games, and this time allowed their opponent to take just four shots on goal, resulting in four saves for Fulbright. The defensive backline of Lindsey Johnson, Miranda Cruz, Kaitlyn Moore, and Amanda Sunthonlap continues to make wave for NCU.

Head Coach Brett Bentley said, “It is all about our girls committing to playing for one another. We started the preseason with an emphasis on being a sound defensive team and they bought into it, fully committed to the jobs that they have.”

The Beacons held a 16-14 shot advantage in the game, including four shots from Mishayla Bertelsen and three from Katelyn Partridge. Partridge gave NCU their best opportunity to score in the first half when a 20-yard rocket fired off the crossbar and straight down in front of the goal before being cleared away by the Boxer defense.

Pacific (1-0-2) remains undefeated on the season behind their own strong defensive effort, and a three-save shutout for keeper Brittany Hartmann.

Northwest Christian (1-1-2) sets a new record for most ties in a season, while Fulbright needed just four games to tie the NCU freshman record for shutouts in a season with three.

The Beacons will be back in action on Monday as they hit the road to face Linfield College at 7:00 pm.
