BOX SCORE - Concordia vs. Portland Bible

PORTLAND, Ore.—With his second-straight 33-point night, forward Adam Herman led Concordia to a 93-74 road win at Portland Bible College on Tuesday.

The junior from Vancouver, Wash., entered the game with a 23.8 points per game average which trailed only the 24.3 rate put up by Montreat (N.C.) College’s LaBris Adams. Hitting 14 of his 17 attempts from the floor, Herman ended the night with a 24.4 average on the season to momentarily move into the top spot on the NAIA Division II charts.

More importantly for the Cavaliers, however, the team moved above .500 in the season for the first time since starting the season at 2-0.

Despite hitting 52.9 percent of their shots in the first half, the Cavs held just a 42-32 lead over the Wildcats. Breen Weeks kept the home team afloat in the first half by converting three 3-pointers over the first 20 minutes of action.

The Wildcats stayed close through the opening moments of the second half, even cutting the deficit to seven points (57-50) on a Vicente Cruz 3-pointer with 13 minutes remaining.

A 14-2 run propelled the Cavs to a 19-point lead with 10 minutes to go.  With several second chance buckets and layups in transition, the lead would eventually swell to 24 points late in the contest after a Herman dunk.

Led by Herman’s efficient line, Concordia finished with a season-best 61.7 percent from the floor in the 19-point victory.

Justin Searle connected on 7 of 10 attempts for 14 points while Anthony Holton added 10 on 5 of 10 shooting. Searle missed out on his second ‘double-double’ of the season after finishing the night with a team-high nine rebounds.

Holton, meanwhile, finished with eight assists, one shy of teammate Robbie Jackson’s game high. The Cavs finished with a 22-16 edge in assists and 43-29 gap in rebounds.

Juston Coleman led PBC with 15 points while teammate Hayden Clason finished with 13.

Concordia will resume Cascade Collegiate Conference play when it hosts cross-town rival Warner Pacific on Saturday night. Opening tip is set for 7:30 p.m. following the women’s game against the Knights.
