CALDWELL, Idaho - A stifling defensive effort in the first half helped The College of Idaho notch a key 60-44 victory over Oregon Tech in a Cascade Conference women's basketball match-up inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

Box Score

The No. 20 ranked Lady Yotes (13-6, 9-2 CCC) outscored OIT 26-6 over the final 16-plus minutes of the first half, building a 30-13 lead at the break and cruised to the win.

Five quick points by Nicole Aboumrad gave the Owls (15-7, 7-4) a 7-4 lead, but Tech would make just three of their next 24 attempts in the half. Dayna Drager canned a pair of treys in a 10-0 C of I run that would give the hosts a 14-7 lead, then limit OIT to just one made field goal over the final eight minutes of the half, closing the period on a 14-2 run.

Despite getting 13 second chance points in the second half, OIT could not cut into the Coyote lead, as The C of I extended the margin to 22 points on a trio of occasions - avenging a loss to the Owls from December.

Laura Geis had her seventh double-double of the year, scoring 13 points and adding 15 rebounds, while Felicity Jones scored 13, and Katelin Shannon had 12 - including 8-of-8 shooting from the foul line. It marked the first win by the Lady Yotes this season in which they failed to score 68 or more points.

Kassi Conditt led the Owls with 14 points and 14 rebounds, with Aboumrad scoring 10. OIT only got to the foul line three times in the loss and were outscored at the stripe, 14-3.

The Lady Yotes return to action next weekend at Evergreen and Northwest.
