CCC joins fight against cancer

LA GRANDE, Ore.- The American Cancer Society, the National Association of Basketball Coaches and more than 4,000 college basketball coaches will lace up to fight cancer January 25-27, 2013 during Suits And Sneakers weekend. Coaches will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their suits to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society and its vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

In addition, the Cascade Collegiate Conference teams have extended their activities to include February 1-2 in order to allow each home team to participate if they choose. Fans are encouraged to take part by wearing sneakers to the games as well.

The Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend is a nationwide event when coaches across the country unite for a common cause – saving lives from cancer! Coaches and their staff are encouraged to wear sneakers with their game attire while coaching games during the weekend to:
  • Raise awareness about the fight against cancer.
  • Share the importance of nutrition and physical activity in reducing one’s risk of the disease.
  • Promote the American Cancer Society as a place for people facing cancer to turn 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for free information, help, and support.
Between now and April 9th, donate $5 to Coaches vs. Cancer by texting "COACH" to 20222.
