Oregon Tech Moves Past Warner Pacific, 71-62

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech battled back from a seven point halftime deficit as Warner Pacific College fell victim to the Lady Owls on its 4th annual “Pink Out” night this evening  at Danny Miles Court by a 71-62 final.
 
The win improves Oregon Tech to 9-4 in conference play and 16-7 on the season.  Warner Pacific falls to 13-9 overall and a half game behind the Owls in the CCC standing at 8-4.
 
Trailing 7-0 to start the contest, Oregon Tech turned in a 9-2 run to tie the game at 9-9.  The game would stay tied on five occasions over the 10 minutes of action.  The Knights, however, closed out the last 3:41 of the opening period on a 9-2 run of their own to claim a 35-28 lead at the intermission.
 
Just two minutes into the second period the Owls found themselves right back into the contest.  A Colleen Hunt jumper, along with back-to-back Nicole Aboumrad triples put Tech up 36-35. 
 
Warner Pacific quickly moved up 41-36, but back-to-back treys from Karissa Dixon and another by Aboumrad gave the Owls a 42-41 advantage.  Tech would go on to score 8-straight from that point and never trail again.
 
WPC would close to within 3 points with 2:10 to play, but the Owls iced the game hitting 9-of-10 free throws down the stretch to earn the hard fought contest by a 71-62 final.
 
Karissa Dixon led all scorers with a game-high 24 points to go with 9 rebounds.   Nicole Aboumrad notched 14 points with Colleen Hunt and Maria Ramirez adding 8 points each in the win.  Ramirez would tally 6 rebounds and 6 assists with Kassi Conditt finishing with 6 points and 6 rebounds.
 
For WPC Morgan Wolff netted a team-high 19 points on a 7-10 effort from the field, including 5-of-6 from the 3-point line.  Tori Carroll added 14 points with Nicole Jackson tacked on 9 points and handed out 10 assists.  Chelsey Christensen grabbed 9 rebounds and netted 8 points in the loss for the Knights.
