EUGENE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon hit eleven three-pointers on Friday night to claim a 73-58 victory over Northwest Christian University in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. The No. 2 ranked team in the NAIA shot 46% in the game to move to 18-1 on the season, 6-1 in CCC action. NCU falls to 7-11, 1-5 in the conference.
EOU had four players score in double-figures, led by 17 points off the bench from Craig Tucker. The junior shot 6-for-7 on the night and had five second-half three-pointers as the Mounties pulled away. Jason Mumm (pictured) scored 15 along with a team high six rebounds and Trent Roos finished with eleven points.
Starting Point Guard JD Esters did not make it onto the scoreboard but led all players with eight assists. Tony Eackles Jr. scored 15 off the bench as the EOU reserves out-scored NCU’s bench, 41-14. Eastern also held the rebounding advantage, 47-38 despite 15 offensive boards for the Beacons.
Northwest Christian got a game-high 20 points from Wyatt Taboh-Graziano in the loss as the senior shot 10-for-13 from the field. He was a perfect 10-for-10 inside of three-point range. Travis Pacos added 12 points while Nick Sullivan scored eight off the bench, adding two steals. Trevor Parker scored six points and led NCU with four assists and Brody McGowan finished with six points and a game-high seven rebounds.
The Beacons return to action on Saturday night, playing host to The College of Idaho, a 72-60 winner over Corban University on Friday. EOU travels to Salem to take on Corban. Both games are slated for 7:30 pm tip-offs.
