Hamilton's Game-Winner Helps Corban Defeat College of Idaho to Remain Unbeaten

CALDWELL, Idaho ā Corban's Josh Hamilton scored the game-winning goal in the 49th minute and goalkeeper Jordan Farr registered his fifth shutout in a row, as the Warriors continued their winning ways with a Cascade Collegiate Conference victory over The College of Idaho, 1-0, Tuesday at Simplot Stadium.
With today's win, Corban extends its unbeaten streak to eight games improving its record to 7-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in league games. On the other hand, C of IĀ falls to 1-8-0 overall and 1-4-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play this season.
The first half was a scoreless opening 45 minutes in which Corban registered three more shots (7-to-4) than The College of Idaho, yet neither team was able to put a shot on frame.
At the 48:35 mark, the Warriors finally found the back of the net when Corban's Eliseo Santana teamed with Hamilton for the game-winner. The scoring play began when Santana sent a diagonal through ball to the right corner of the box where Hamilton made one touch before driving a low shot past a diving C of I goalkeeper into the left corner of the net for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Neither team had many more scoring opportunities until the 73rd minute, when C of I had its chance after the Yotes' Joe Bolin got a long ball and cracked a shot that forced Corban's net-minder to come off his line to corralled the shot.
Just hours after being named NAIA Defensive Player of the Week, Farr extended his scoreless streak to 560 minutes thanks to a pair of saves that helped the first-year Warrior register his fifth straight shutout. Farr's counterpart, C of I's Colin Benham-Marin, also made two saves for the Yotes despite allowing the game-winning goal early in the second half.
Overall, Corban registered four more shots (12-to-8) than The College of Idaho with the Warriors putting three on target versus the Coyotes' two. Corban also earned two more corner kicks (5-to-3), as the Warriors were whistled for 15 fouls compared to C of I's 14.
Both teams return to action on Saturday, October 5th, when Corban put its unbeaten streak on the line against the NAIA's No. 12-ranked Concordia beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Warrior Field in Salem. Meanwhile, The College of Idaho hosts Evergreen with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Simplot Stadium in Caldwell.
