VANCOUVER, B.C.—Bouncing back from its first loss of the season, Concordia handled Thompson Rivers 89-60 in the final game of action at the UBC Tournament held at War Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday.

With the win, Concordia improved to 2-1 on the season. The Cavaliers will next turn their attention towards an exhibition game at Seattle Pacific University on Oct. 29. The Cavs will make their regular-season debut on U.S. soil on Nov. 1 at Portland Bible College.

Concordia came out of the locker room in good form against Thompson Rivers, building a double-digit lead in just six minutes of play. Adam Herman (Vancouver, Wash./Prairie H.S.) and Esvan Middleton (Culver City, Calif./Culver City H.S.) combined for 11 early points as CU snared an 18-8 lead with four minutes to play in the opening period.

Later in eth first, the WolfPack scored five straight to pull within five points but the Cavs rattled off a 12-4 run to end the quarter with a 30-17 lead.

Concordia went on to end the half with a 44-28 advantage and pushed the gap to as many as 26 points following a Middleton layup late in the third quarter.

In the fourth, a Tallon Milne layout cut the TRC deficit back to 21, but the Cavs closed out the game with a 16-2 run, powered by a pair of 3-pointers by freshman Daniel Duitsman (Portland, Ore./Sunset H.S.).

"We came back with a focused effort tonight over a solid Thompson Rivers squad," CU head coach Brad Barbarick said. "It was good to see us respond with defensive intensity that set the tone for a nice win."

Concordia finished with a 52.2 shooting percentage, the second straight night the Cavs broke 50 percent from the floor. The WolfPack was held to just 32.1 percent on their attempts; hitting just 17 of 53 shots on the night.

Knocking down 8 of 10 shots, Herman finished with a game-high 23 points to close out the weekend with a 24.7 points per game average in three contests and earning All-Tournament honors in the process. Willy Ligon (Corona, Calif./Centennial H.S.) added 11 points and Middleton 10 to reach double digits in the scoring column.

"I was very pleased with play from several players, but it was a true team effort with all 13 players playing tonight, 12 of which scored," Barbarick said.

The Cavs also outrebounded the WolfPack, 38 to 32 with five different players grabbing at least five boards. Middleton and Kory Kirwan (Hillsboro, Ore./Glencoe H.S.) led the team with seven rebounds and were followed by five each from Herman, Jesse Armstrong (Encino, Calif./Crespi Carmelite H.S.) and Justin Ramirez (San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo H.S.).
