Eagles Place Second in George Fox Invite 10/12/2013 9:53:15 PM BROOKS, Ore. – Northwest University placed three runners in the top ten as they were edged 46-44 by Linfield for the team title today at the George Fox Invitational at Willamette Mission State Park. A total of 69 runners took part in the women's 5k along with seven teams. Joanna Sowers was the top Eagle finisher as she placed third with a time of 18:44 for the 5k distance. Sigrid Thoreson crossed the tape in 6th place with her career best time of 19:06 and Emily Sears was tenth with her time of 19:16. Kelsey Anderson was 12th and in at 19:21 with Marissa Flannery crossing the finish line in 15th place with her time of 19:33. Other NU runners were: Emily Tacke (20:23), Shandon Lystad (20:36), Morgan Paolini (20:54) and Hannah Peters (21:43). "They women ran extremely well and ended up ever so short of the win today," stated NU head coach, Mark Mandi. "It was a big race for Kelsey Anderson as she bettered her previous mark by 1 minute and Sigrid (Thoreson) ran a career best this morning. Marissa Flannery was our No. 4 runner and ran a personal best today as well. All the other runners continue to improve as they all ran faster and better than last weekend. I'm so proud of them and they continue to get better."
