PORTLAND, Ore. – Behind strong offensive nights by Michael Chamberlain (Wailua, Hawaii/Island H.S.) and Timur Zhividze (Bobrov, Russia/Evergreen H.S.), the Concordia men's soccer team rolled to a 7-1 victory over Warner Pacific at Palermini Stadium Saturday night.

The seven-goal tally represents the most goals ever scored against Warner Pacific as Concordia's previous high against the Knights came in a 6-0 win at home on Sept. 23, 2006.

With the win, its fourth in the last five matches, Concordia improved to 5-3-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play and 8-3-0 overall. Warner Pacific fell to 2-4-0 in CCC play and 3-5-0 overall with the defeat.

Striking in the first minute of action, Chamberlain's first goal came just 45 seconds into the contest as the Knights' goalkeeper, Dorian Lair, failed to make a clearance, allowing Chamberlain to fire his shot from eight-yards out. Chamberlain returned in the 29th minute to head home a shot from ten-yards away that sailed just over Lair's reach.

Septi Danciu (Bristita, Romania/Evergreen H.S.) sent the Cavs into intermission with a 3-0 lead after working with Chamberlain for a goal in the 33rd minute of action.

Following a Ben Culpan (Auckland, New Zealand/Napier Boys H.S.) goal in the 59th minute for a 4-0 lead, the Knights broke the shutout with misfortune by Concordia on an own goal in the 66th minute.

In a six-minute span late in the second half, Zhividze registered his first career brace to give Concordia a commanding 6-1 advantage. In the 74th minute, Zhividze fired from 10 yards out after collecting a misplayed free kick. The freshman returned in the 80th minute by turning an intercepted pass near midfield into a long run and a successful shot attempt for his first career multi-goal outing, putting Concordia up 6-1.

Sam Carmichael (Adelaide, Australia/Hallett Cove) closed out the CU scoring spree via a penalty kick in the 83rd minute of play.

With seven goals in his last four matches and 11 total scores on the season, Chamberlain holds sole possession of the CCC lead. Zhividze, meanwhile, has scored four goals in his previous four matches.

Concordia outshot Warner Pacific 14 to 7 while generating a 5 to 1 edge in corner kicks. Scott Gross (Gladstone, Ore./Gladstone H.S.) picked up the win after a two-save performance in front of the net.

Concordia will now turn their attention to the College of Idaho as they travel to Caldwell, Idaho on Tuesday, Oct. 15; kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. (PST).
