PORTLAND, Ore.—Hitting .355 for the match, the No. 20-ranked Concordia University volleyball team posted its 11th sweep of the season with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-21) win at home against Northwest University on Friday night.

With the win, Concordia (17-4, 10-2 CCC) maintains a share of second place in the CCC standings with College of Idaho (10-8, 10-2 CCC) as the Coyotes upset No. 9-ranked Eastern Oregon 3-1 in an earlier match this evening.

Concordia will host Evergreen State on Saturday before traveling to face the conference-leading EOU team on Oct. 25. Northwest will stay in Portland to face Warner Pacific College on Saturday.

The Cavaliers never trailed in the opening two sets, taking early 9-4 leads in both frames. Northwest was held to a .059 hitting percentage in the opener while the Cavs opened up as much as a 10-point lead (21-11) following a combined block by Mariah Raudsepp (Dundee, Ore./C.S. Lewis Academy) and Lindsay Mangan (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina H.S.).

Leslie Hanks (Hockinson, Wash./Hockinson H.S.) served up an ace to create set point before Mangan, the team's setter, finished the job with a successful attack of her own.

Mangan helped CU to a 21-11 advantage in the second set as well, setting up a successful kill by Brianna Hogan (Portland, Ore./Centennial H.S.) for its biggest lead in the second go-around. A pair of Brenna Huwe (Troutdale, Ore./Reynolds H.S.) kills pushed CU to its second set point where Raudsepp completed the task with one of her eight kills.

With early kills by Hogan, CU established a 7-3 in the third set. Facing elimination, Northwest rallied to tie the set at 12-12 and took a one-point lead on two occasions, 13-12 and 14-13. The Eagles' second lead came via a strong swing by Rae Ann Hastings with an assist from teammate Christina Gleb.

From there, the Cavs rattled off six straight points, two on aces from Shantel Gritsch (Gresham, Ore./Clackamas H.S.), before settling for the four-point win (25-21).

One shy of her season best, Hogan recorded a match-high 14 kills while Huwe finished with 12 kills, her third double-digit performance in the last four matches. Hanks and Gritsch added 13 and eight digs, respectively.

Despite playing just the first two sets, Mangan shared the match high of 26 assists with NU's Gleb. Jenessa Taylor (Beaverton, Ore./Sunset H.S.) accumulated an impressive 13 assists in the final set for the Cavs.

Northwest, the CCC serving leader coming into the match at 2.12 aces per set, managed just a single ace in the entire match with Hanks and Ashley Jibby (Post Falls, Idaho/Post Falls H.S.) handling the majority of the serve receiving duties for the Cavs.
