NU's Michael Greene led the Eagles with 23 points and 8 rebounds NU's Strong Second Half Downs Seattle Mountaineers 10/18/2013 11:37:18 PM KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Northwest University men put together a strong second half to defeat the Seattle Mountaineers 86-67, tonight in exhibition play. NU broke open a close game with 53 points in the period. The first half would remain a tight contest throughout with the Eagles pulling ahead to take a four point, 33-29, halftime lead on 37% shooting. 42% shooting by the Mountaineers help keep them close. In the second half, NU would warm up, hitting 18 of 32 shots for 56% shooting in the half as they would slowly pull away from the Mountaineers for the 53-38 edge in the second period. Leading the way for Northwest U. was senior Michael Greene who finished with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Junior Michael Russo score 16 points hitting 4 of 5 three points attempts while senior Ryan McIntosh scored 11 points for the Eagles. Freshman Dak Shagren chipped in 10 points. NU also out rebounded the taller Mountaineers 44-32 including 14 offensive boards. The Eagles shot 46% for the night, 48% from the three point line (12-25). Duran Blue (Lee University, Tenn.) led the Mountaineers with 16 points and 6-11 Teeng Akol (Western Kentucky) scored 11. Former Northwest player, Jason Waltman contributed 5 points and 7 rebounds for the Seattle team. Anthony Golden (NW Nazarene) added 8 points. Northwest will travel to British Columbia next weekend to Kamloops to play Thompson Rivers and UBCO on Friday and Saturday.
