LA GRANDE, Ore. – Concordia’s men’s and women’s golf teams are favored to win the Cascade Collegiate Conference crown  according to a poll of the league’s  6 head coaches. Both Concordia squads received five first-place votes and 35 total points in earning the favorites’ tag for the 2013-14 season.

On the men’s side Northwest Christian picked up one first place vote and 29 points to place second. Corban totaled 19 points placing third. The Warriors were followed by Warner Pacific (18), Oregon Tech (17) and College of Idaho (7).

In women’s golf The College of Idaho earned one first place vote and 31 points to come in second behind the Cavaliers. Corban placed third with 22 points followed by Northwest Christian (15), Warner Pacific (12) and Oregon Tech (11).

With the addition of the Oregon Tech programs, the conference is eligible for an automatic bid to the national tournaments based on having six teams for both men and women.

The CCC has a split regular season with two fall tournaments and two spring tournaments. Concordia is currently atop the men’s and women’s standings after fall competition.

With the automatic bid comes a new format for post season. The regular season champions will be the teams with the lowest combined stroke total from the four conference tournaments. The winners of the CCC championships tournament will punch their tickets to the NAIA National tournament.

The CCC championships will be hosted by The College of Idaho April 21-22, 2014.
