Concordia's Grant Landy Reaches 300th Career Win
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.â--With its highest scoring output in five years, the No. 2-ranked Concordia women's soccer team posted a 9-0 win over Oregon Tech on Saturday as head coach
Grant Landy earned his 300th career win.
Landy, in his 17th season as head coach of the Cavaliers, now sports a 300-58-24 (.816) record and holds a 153-9-6 (.930) mark in Cascade Collegiate Conference matches. Landy is currently ranked second in the NAIA among active coaches, trailing only Oklahoma City's Brian Harvey tally of 320-86-20.
Landy will look for win No. 301 as the Cavaliers host Evergreen State for Senior Night on Oct. 24. Kickoff against the Geoducks is set for 7 p.m. at Tuominen Yard.
The Cavs put little doubt in any addition wait for its coaches' milestone, landing six first-half goals, including four in a 12-minute span beginning at the 11:38 mark.
Hannah Scott (Milwaukie, Ore./Milwaukie H.S.) got things started in the 12th minute and was nearly immediately followed by a successful shot from
Alex Blalock (Flagstaff, Ariz./Coconino H.S.) in the 13th minute.
In another two-minute spurt starting at 21:02,
Bobbi Eckler (Vancouver, Wash./Union H.S.) and
Ashley Ames (Liberty Lake, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) gave Cu a 4-0 lead. Ames notched her second goal of the game in the 31st minute while
Alicia Kolter (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union H.S.) joined the fray in the 41st minute for the commanding 6-0 advantage.
Erin Huisingh (Pasco, Wash./Chiawana H.S.) and
McKayla Madison (Bend, Ore./Mountain View H.S.) opened up the second-half attack before Kolter closed out the match with her second goal of the day in the 78th minute of action. Six different Concordia players were credited with assists in the spree with junior
Annika Hayman (Redmond, Wash./Redmond H.S.) earning three points with her play.
Overall, Concordia outshot the Owls 26-to-4 with a 15-to-1 advantage in the first half alone. Freshman
Olivia Brock (Olympia, Wash./Olympia H.S.) picked up the win while playing the first half in goal for the Cavs. Sophomore
Nicole Franklin (Hillsboro, Ore./Century H.S.) registered one save to complete the team's eighth shutout of the season.
