Megan McArthur was one of four Raiders to score in a 4-0 win against Warner Pacific.
ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon University women's soccer team led for all but two minutes Saturday morning, treating last-place Warner Pacific accordingly in a 4-0 Cascade Conference win at University Field.
The Raiders (8-3-3 overall, 4-1-1 CCC) got all they needed before anybody broke a sweat on a breakaway as Chloe Welch found Sydney Paulsen, who hit Julie Zamzow for a goal from point-blank range in the third minute. Two minutes later, Paulsen assisted Presley Lambert's left-to-right goal from 15 yards out.
Lisa Elledge and Megan McArthur both tallied within a couple minutes of each other in the second half. Elledge had an uncontested shot during the 73rd minute in front of the goal after a diving effort got Knights keeper Allie Holterman out of the way on Serena DeChristofaro's shot. In the 75th minute, DeChristofaro assisted McArthur on an 18-yarder from straight on.
The shutout was the seventh for the Raiders and freshman keeper Kylie Moltzen, breaking the previous SOU single-season record of 6.5 set by Emily Schifferling in 2001. Moltzen had five saves.
The Raiders outshot Warner Pacific 19-7, putting 13 on goal, while improving to 6-1-2 over their last eight matches.
The Knights, who are winless in CCC play since 2011, dropped to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in conference.
Zamzow's goal was her fourth of the season and fourth in SOU's last four matches. Elledge has four, Lambert three and McArthur two goals on the season. Paulsen now leads the Raiders in goals (six) and assists (three) while Welch has three assists of her own.
SOU's final regular season home game will be at 10 a.m. next Saturday against Oregon Tech.
