The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period October 14 – 20.
 
Women’s Cross Country
 
College of Idaho’s Hillary Holt has been named the Red Lion Women’s Cross Country Runner of the week.
 
Holt, a senior from Meridian, Idaho, dominated a field of 127 runners (including top runners from Idaho, Washington State, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga and NAIA Top-20 teams from Lewis-Clark State, Carroll, and Rocky Mountain) to set a school record at the 5,000-meter distance (eclipsing her time from the 2012 CCC Championships)...helped C of I earn the team title (for non-Division I teams) and clock the fastest team time of any of the squads at the meet. It is her third victory of the season.

Men’s Cross Country
 
Eastern Oregon’s Isaac Updike has been named the Red Lion Men’s Cross Country Runner of the week.
 
Updike, a senior from Ketchikan, Alaska, led the No. 8 Mountaineers to a second place finish at the LCSC Empire Inland Championships. EOU lost to Lewis-Clark State College by five points. Updike finished third in the race with a time of 24:10, which is the third fastest time all-time in EOU Cross Country History.

Women’s Soccer- Defensive
 
Concordia’s Jasmin Ayala has been named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Ayala, a junior from Simi Valley, Calif., has helped CU post the NAIA’s No. 3-ranked defender with a 0.46 goals against average this season. Last week, Ayala helped the Cavs hold Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech to a single goal as Concordia outscored its opponents 11-1, extending the team’s winning streak to seven matches. Over 180 minutes of action last week, the CU defense allowed just 10 shot attempts, including just a single shot on goal against Oregon Tech. The shutout against OIT was the eighth for the Cavs this season.

Women’s Soccer- Offensive
 
Northwest’s Acacia Johnson has been named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Johnson, a junior from Puyallup, Wash., scored the game winner against Eastern Oregon in the 88th minute as the game was headed for overtime. Also scored the game winner in the College of Idaho game on Thursday, Oct. 17, helping NU post a 7-1-1 record in the past 9 games.

Men’s Soccer-Defensive
 
Northwest’s Joe Galbraith has been named the Red Lion Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Galbraith, a senior from Whitefish, Mont., earned his second straight shutout of the week against Concordia (RV) in a crucial CCC game on Saturday with both teams tied for second place in the league standings. CU had scored 9 goals in the previous two games coming into Saturday. Galbraith made 12 total saves in 100 minutes plus with 4 of them coming in the 2 overtime periods--1 in the first OT and 3 in the second which helped preserve the shutout and set the stage for the game winner at 107:45. He has given up just one goal in the past three games. NU defeated Concordia for the second time this season.

Men’s Soccer-Offensive
 
Northwest’s Mackenzie Samuelsen has been named the Red Lion Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Samuelsen, a junior from Woodinville, Wash., stepped up his game against Concordia with 3 NU starters out for the game with injuries, including the team's leading scorer. Scored the game winner in the second overtime period and had an assist on the second goal in NU's 2-0 win over Northwest Christian on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Volleyball- Offensive
 
Concordia’s Brenna Huwe has been named the Red Lion Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Huwe, a freshman from Troutdale, Ore., led Concordia with 23 kills last weekend in a pair of CCC sweeps for the Cavs. Huwe registered 12 and 11 kills against Northwest and Evergreen for her third and fourth career double-digit kill performances, all of which have occurred in the last five matches. In the two matches, Huwe hit .333 while being credited to just six errors in 51 swings.

Volleyball- Defensive
 
College of Idaho’s Janel Porter has been named the Red Lion Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Porter, a senior from Eagle, Idaho, dad a career-high and equaled C of I school record (for four-set matches) with 38 digs in win over #9 ranked Eastern Oregon...recorded her 48th straight double-digit dig match
