 KAMLOOPS, B.C. - The Northwest University men's basketball team wrapped up their two day trip to Canada and the Thompson Rivers Tournament with a 68-56 win over the UBC Okanagan Heat earlier today.

NU got off to a good start in the first half as they led UNCO 15-11 at the end of the first quarter and then outscored the Heat 22-11 in the second quarter to take a 37-22 lead into halftime. The Eagles would have a solid quarter in the third and they would put 24 points on the scoreboard to UBCO's 19 to lead by 20 points, 61-41 by the end of the period.
 
The Eagles (1-1) got 15 points from senior Ryan McIntosh, 14 from Michael Russo and 12 points from Brett Skogstad. NU improved their shooting from the previous night with a 39% shooting effort, and 37% from the 3-point line (10-27). Northwest held a 35-32 rebounding advantage over the Heat from Kelowna. Nemanja Grujicic led NU with 11 rebounds.
 
UBC Okanagan (0-2) was led by James Lum who finished with 17 points and teammate Ed Dane Medi added 14. UBCO shot 42% for the game but managed only 18% from beyond the 3-point arc.
 
Northwest will return home and will play another Canadian team in Quest University next Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
