PORTLAND, Ore.—Scoring the game-tying goal just before the break, the Concordia men's soccer team went on to complete the comeback with a 2-1 win over Evergreen State on Tuesday.

With the result, Concordia improved to 12-4-0 on the season and 9-3-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference matches. Evergreen fell to 7-6-3 overall and 5-5-2 in league contests.

After surviving an early barrage by Concordia, Evergreen scored on its third attempt, and its first official shot on goal, when Albert Anabtawi found teammate Alberto Brand in the 35th minute of play.

Working off a counter-attack, Anabtawi used a long pass from the center of the pitch to deep on the right side where Brand uncorked a rocket from 20 yards out and into the upper right corner of the net.

The Cavaliers responded, however, just nine minutes later as Michael Chamberlain (Wailua, Hawaii/Island H.S.) was tackled inside the 18-yard box while looking at space towards goal. Stepping up to take the penalty kick, CU's Septi Danciu (Bristita, Romania/Evergreen H.S.) slotted his CCC-leading 13th goal of the season to knot the match at 1-all.

After outshooting the Geoducks 11-to-3 in the first half, Concordia managed a 7-to-4 advantage over the final 45 minutes, eventually knocking in the go-ahead goal in the 72nd minute of action as Danciu found Radcliffe McDougald (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island H.S.) at the top of the box where McDougald connected on a 16-yard strike over Geoducks' goalkeeper Mauricio Sanchez.

CU's Arne Niermann (Lippstadt, Germany/Privates Gymnasium Marienschule) picked up the win while collecting just one save, but stopped several dangerous attacks, including one-on-ones with Jack Fortune in the first half and Joseph Ademofe in the second half.

Concordia will return to action on Saturday as the Cavs host cross-town rival Warner Pacific for Senior Night at The Yard. Kickoff against the Knights is set for 6 p.m. Earlier in the day in Kirkland, Wash., Evergreen will face its area foe in the Northwest University Eagles .
