EOU Shuts Out Warner Pacific, 2-0
PORTLAND, Ore. - Eastern Oregon scored once in each half and played a strong 90 minutes of defense to defeat Warner Pacific 2-0 in Portland today.
The Mountaineers (5-1-1, 1-1 CCC) opened the scoring with a counter attack up the right flank in the 25th minute. Sydney Nelson took a pass from Tori Fedora and slotted home a shot past Knight keeper
Allie Holterman.
Warner Pacific (1-4, 0-2 CCC) was able to smother out all other EOU chances from there, but could not generate much offense of their own save two shots on goal and three corner kicks.
Ashley Valencia nearly leveled the score in the 64th minute, but an EOU defender was able to put a foot in front of her flick from 8 yards.
EOU salted the game away with four minutes remaining. Holterman has saved an initial shot by Katherine Hood, but the ball fell to Shelby Tucker who finished from 6 yards away.
The Mountaineers led the shot category 14-2 on the day, and generated five corner kicks to WPC's three. Holterman finished with five saves in the loss.
