Conference Receives Five Star Status 10/9/2013 1:54:08 PM LA GRANDE, Ore. - The NAIA officially recognized the Cascade Collegiate Conference as achieving 5 star status. With eight of ten member institutions earning the NAIA Champions of Character designation for 2012-13 the Conference qualified for the award. Since 1937, the NAIA has administered programs and championships in proper balance with the overall educational experience. In 2000, the NAIA reaffirmed its purpose to enhance the character-building aspects of sport. Through the Champions of Character program, the NAIA seeks to create an environment in which every student-athlete, coach, official and spectator is committed to the true spirit of competition through five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership. Schools submit end of year reports to the NAIA character scorecard and are awarded points based on activities related to the Champions of Character program. Schools must achieve a minimum of 60 of 100 points to earn the designation. Conferences receive 5 Star statuses when sixty percent of member schools achieve the mark.
