Oregon Tech Nears Century Mark in Win Over Simpson
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Three players finished in double figures and Oregon Tech used a 23-0 second half blitz to outpace Simpson University in non-conference women’s basketball action tonight at Danny Miles Court by a 98-53 final.
Tech scored on their first five possessions eventually taking their first double digit lead of the night at 16-6 on a Maria Ramirez basket at the 16:19 mark.
Simpson cut their deficit to eight points, 29-21, midway through the opening period, but a triple from Karissa Dixon, one of her four in the game, pushed the Owls back into a double digit lead for good.
Leading by 16 four minutes into the second half, a Ramirez score sparked a 23-0 run, capped by a Karissa Harbick 3-point field goal, to move the home team into a 77-38 lead.
Tech would cruise to the 99-53 non-conference win.
Karissa Dixon scored a game-high 18 points to go with eight rebounds, six assists and a steal with Karly Leveque netting 17 points, six assists and four steals. Kassi Conditt finished with 15 points, nine rebounds, four blocks and three assists, while Karissa Harbick scored nine points and grabbed six boards.
For Simpson Katie Lenik scored 10 points followed by seven from Nichole Jones.
Oregon Tech connected on 40-of-68 from the field (58.8%), recording 31 assists in the game. Tech was 11-for-20 from the 3-point line and held a decisive 41-28 advantage in rebounds.
