KLAMATH FALLS – Jeff Bush recorded 18 points and eight assists and helped the fourth-ranked Southern Oregon men's basketball team carve up Westminster (Utah) in a 77-63 win Friday afternoon at the Midland Empire Classic.
Bush went 6-for-6 from the field, leading the Raiders (4-1 overall) to 50.8-percent shooting (31-for-61) as a team. David Sturner went 8-for-11 on his way to 19 points, 11 of which came in the second half, and added seven rebounds.
Westminster (4-3), an NAIA Division I school that competes in the Frontier Conference, came into the game shooting 26 percent from 3-point range and stayed cold outside, converting 2 of 14 attempts. The Griffins were led by 16 points apiece from Tallon Robertson and Blake Skidmore while Jordan Pryor had 11.
Jordan West came off the bench to score 13 points for SOU, going 3-for-4 from downtown. Twenty-one of SOU's 31 buckets were assisted as Tim Weber complemented Bush's effort with five assists to go with nine points and five boards. Kyle Tedder chipped in 11 points and four assists.
Bush made both of his 3-pointers in the second half, where the Raiders opened up a lead that was just four at halftime. In his last two games, Bush is 11-for-12 from the field with 17 assists.
A box score was not immediately available.
The Raiders play again at 3 p.m. Saturday versus William Jessup. They'll return to Danny Miles Court again on Tuesday, though, for a nonconference game against Oregon Tech.
