CALDWELL, Idaho - College of Idaho used a 20-6 run over the final eight minutes – holding Puget Sound without a made field goal for a six-minute stretch, as the Lady Yotes grabbed a 78-64 victory in Game 2 of the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic.

After the Division III Loggers (4-2) cut a 17-point deficit to 58-56 on a Katy Ainslie jumper with nine minutes to play, the Yotes clamped down defensively to hold off the visitors.

Erica Martinez scored 10 of her game-high 26 points in the Lady Yotes (2-4) run, including a key three-pointer with 1:43 remaining to push the lead to 74-62.

The Yotes jumped quickly out of the gates, as eight of her season-high 25 points in a 16-4 run early in the first half, as C of I grabbed a 24-10 lead at the midway point of the half. A Hensey three-pointer gave the hosts their largest lead of the night at 35-18 and led by 10 at the break.

Puget Sound fought back in the second half, as a three-point play from Emily Sheldon followed by the Ainslie jumper got the Loggers within a bucket – but did not get closer.

The Yotes hit 10 three-pointers and made 20-of-25 free throw attempts in the win, with Chakala Carthen scoring seven points and grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.

The Loggers got 19 points from Emily Sheldon and 17 points from Amanda Forshay – but made just 2-of-15 three-pointers and committed 17 turnovers.

In the early game, Eastern Oregon rolled to a 96-34 victory over Walla Walla.
