Eagles Shut Out Southern Oregon
KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University scored the lone on Senior Day as they got by Southern Oregon 1-0 this afternoon to end the Cascade Conference’s regular season. Both teams have clinched playoff spots for next week’s post season play. The earlier storm subsided and the sun made a brief appearance during the game as power outages dotted the greater Seattle area.
With the win, Northwest earns the #2 seed and a first round bye in post season play just edging out Corban for the spot.
Tatyana Reveles took a through ball from teammate Tiffany Taylor in the 54
th minute to break a scoreless tie as the Eagles improved to 10-7-1 and 6-2-1 in conference play. Southern Oregon finishes the regular season at 9-5-1 and 5-3-1 in the CCC.
Southern Oregon outshot Northwest 16-11 and had 4 corner kicks to none for the Eagles. Patty Hughes earned the shutout for Northwest with 6 saves in goal while SOU keeper, Kylie Moltzen had 5 saves in goal for the Raiders.
Four Eagle seniors were honored in a post-game ceremony. Teammates paid tribute to: Jessica Oliver, Stephanie Brewer, Shea Samuelsen and Mariah O’Brien.
“It was great to get the win today as it meant a lot to the seniors and for the team to remain undefeated in league play at home this season,” commented Val Seid, Eagle head coach. “We were persistent on offense and we were finally rewarded in the second half with the score. Our defense did a great job holding a good team like Southern Oregon scoreless.”
