Val Seid becomes the second women's soccer coach at NU
Northwest Hires Val Seid as Women's Soccer Coach
KIRKLAND, Wash. - Northwest University director of athletics, Gary McIntosh, announced the hiring of Val Seid as the women’s soccer coach at the school. Seid has been serving as the interim coach since the beginning of the season in September. He has led the Eagle women to a 10-7-1 season record and the #2 seed in this week's CCC Championships.
Said McIntosh about Seid’s hiring, “Val has a tremendous amount of coaching experience and is a very successful club coach in the area. He had been serving as the interim coach this season and has done an outstanding job coaching the team to the Cascade Conference semifinals during this time. Val has the ability to lead this program to new heights.”
Seid has been coaching for past 14 years in Washington state, coaching high school soccer and at various clubs throughout the region. He has coached club teams such as the FC Alliance, Emerald City and Crossfire; and is currently coaching U15, U17 & U18 girls at Northwest Nationals where his team won a National Championship in 2011.
Seid is also the men’s varsity head coach at Roosevelt High School in Seattle where his team won the conference championship in 2012 and finished 3
rd in WIAA state tournament (2013) and was named KingCo 4A coach of the year in 2012. Seid was also the head varsity women’s coach at Ballard High School in Seattle for the past 8 years where he earned KingCo coach of the year in 2006. Seid is also the former goalkeeper/assistant coach for both the men and women’s teams at Bellevue College helping the men earn the NWACC championship in 2009.
Said Coach Seid of his hiring, “I am very honored to be asked to take over this great program here at NU. The school has been great in opening their arms to me and supporting me through this first season. We have a great group of Ladies and I am really looking forward to working with them. I am very excited to take this program to the next level and about the many possibilities in front of them. With our great assistant coaches (Mark, Bryan, Stephanie, John, Emily) and phenomenal players we will get there.”
Seid played soccer for UCLA and San Jose State during his collegiate years and holds a USSF B license, national youth license and the NSCAA goalkeeper license. He is a graduate of San Jose State University.
