PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Southern Oregon women's basketball team took the lead with a 20-7 run to start the second half and made it stick Friday night in a 64-58 over Arizona Christian at Fultz Memorial Gym.
Bree Park scored a game-high 15 points and Ashley Claussen had 11 points, five steals, seven rebounds and three assists for the Raiders, who have started 3-0 for the seventh straight season.
The Raiders trailed 34-27 at halftime before the run, which Park capped with one of her two 3-pointers. Their lead grew to as large as 12 points on Claussen's layup with 3 minutes, 19 seconds left.
Allison Gida added 10 points and seven rebounds for SOU, which shot 50 percent (14-for-28) in the second half. Carly Meister tossed in nine points and five boards.
The Firestorm (2-1), which had an 11-point lead in the first half, was led by Shannon Harte's 15 points and Tenisha Royston's 14.
The teams will hook up again on Saturday night at 6 p.m. Pacific Time.
