LA GRANDE, Ore. – While the six participating teams have been decided for a week, the matchups are finally set for the 2013 Cascade Collegiate Conference Volleyball Championship presented by U.S. Bank and the action will being on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013.
23rd-ranked College of Idaho clinched its eighth-consecutive CCC regular season title on Saturday night as the Yotes used an easy win over Corban to secure the top seed. In addition to earning a first-round bye, the Yotes, who finished the season with a record of 16-2 in CCC play and 16-9 overall, will host the conference semifinals and championship match on Nov. 15 and 16.
The second seed and the second first-round bye goes to the 24th-ranked Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon. EOU used a win over Northwest Christian to finish the regular season with a record of 25-5 and 15-3 in CCC action.
Concordia University earns the third-seed and a first-round home game after spending much of the season in the NAIA Top 25. The Cavaliers posted a record of 21-6 overall and 14-4 in conference play and will host one of two opening round games on Tuesday night.
The Raiders of Southern Oregon are the fourth seed after falling to Concordia in five sets on Saturday night. SOU went 13-5 in conference action this season and 16-9 overall and will host the other opening round game.
Northwest Christian earns the fifth seed and will head into the postseason having seen the top two seeds this past weekend, having fallen at both College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon. The Beacons earned their second-straight trip to the postseason with a record of 17-10 overall and 10-8 in conference play. NCU opens the postseason at fourth-seed Southern Oregon on Tuesday night.
The sixth and final seed goes to Oregon Tech. The Owls went 15-17 this season, including 8-10 in Cascade Conference action. OIT will head back to Portland to take on third-seed Concordia on Tuesday in the tournament’s first round.
First-round games will take place at 7 p.m. PST on Tuesday, Nov. 12 with the two advancing teams traveling to Caldwell, Idaho to take on top-seed College of Idaho and second-seed Eastern Oregon in the semifinal round at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. MST on Friday. The two semifinal winners will meet at 3 p.m. MST on Saturday for the conference’s automatic spot in the 2013 NAIA National Championship.
