KIRKLAND, Wash. –  Northwest University's Rachel Saleen scored the game winner in the shootout to defeat Corban in the CCC Championships semifinal as the Eagles advance to the CCC Championship game next Saturday against Concordia in Portland.

With the score tied at 1-1, Tera McDonough gave Corban the lead as she scored from 8 yards out after taking Audrey Sullivan’s cross. It looked as though the Warriors were headed for the victory until the 87th minute when Acacia Johnson took Rachel Saleen’s through ball and scored from the right side tying the game at 2-2.

Neither team could muster a goal in each of the overtime periods sending the game into a shootout. NU goalkeeper Lauren Patefield who replaced injured starter Patty Hughes in the second half made the key save on Tera McDonough’s shot in the shootout. After Northwest’s Tiffany Taylor’s shot went just high, over the goal, Kaylyn Siobal’s shot streaked wide right. Rachel Saleen then stepped up and scored the game winner as she put her shot low and into the right side of the net passed Corban keeper, Kaitlyn Mendenhall.

Northwest U (10-7-2, 6-2-1) held the edge in shots, 15-14 and corner kicks with a 9-2 advantage. Kaitlyn Mendenhall ahd a great day in goal for the Warriors(11-6-3, 6-2-1) finishing with 6 saves, 3 key saves late in regulation to preserve the tie. Patty Hughes, already playing with a broken nose, had 1 save and Lauren Patefiled came off the bench for 3 saves for the Eagles.
