NU Eaagles Fall to EWU Eagles in Exhibition 12/17/2013 9:53:54 PM CHENEY, Wash. – The Northwest University women ran into a good, NCAA Division I, Eastern Washington Eagles team tonight and fell 90-48 in an exhibition for the NU Eagles. Sana Milovic hit a 3-point shot 6 minutes into the game to make it 13-8, EWU, but then NU would go cold and EWU would outscore the Eagles 31-0 over the next 9 minutes to stretch their lead to 34-8. Olivia VanDlac finally broke the scoring ice for Northwest with her lay in with 4:50 to go in the half to make it 34-10 as the Eastern Eagles would take a 46-16 lead into halftime. Northwest would continue to have difficulty scoring in the second half as Eastern Washington would hi 49% of their shots in the period to pull away with a 90-48 win. Senior Alyssa Dario led Northwest U. (8-4) with 10 points in 21 minutes of play. Sanda Milovic finished with 8 points and Olivia VanDlac contributed 7 for the Eagles. NU shot 30% going 17-57 for the night. Eastern Washington (3-5) was led by Lexie Nelson’s 21 points. Laura Hughes scored 13 points and had 7 rebounds while teammate Tisha Phillips dropped in 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. EWU shot 44% for the game, 43% from beyond the 3-point arc and made 19 of 21 free throws for 90%. Eastern held a big rebounding margin, 53-31. “It was an excellent opportunity for us tonight to learn to play bigger, stronger and faster!” commented NU head coach, Ken Crawford. “We are convinced this experience will only help us down the road.” Northwest will resume conference play this weekend when they take on Northwest Christian and Corban on the road.
