EUGENE, Ore.  – The Northwest University Eagles survived a 22-turnover night and out-rebounded Northwest Christian University 50-32 on Friday night to claim a Cascade Collegiate Conference victory, 68-56 at the Morse Event Center.

Northwest Christian jumped out to an early1-0 lead but needed just under nine minutes before they could snag a field goal. The Eagles pulled away and were ahead 15-2 before a Chantell Stanton jumper with 11:01 to play gave the Beacons their first bucket.

Northwest stretched their lead to as many as 15 points, leading 24-9 with 6:49 to play. A triple from Hannah Fredrick sparked NCU to a 9-0 run and in just four minutes the Beacons had crawled back to within four points, 28-24. The Eagles, however, maintained a 33-27 advantage at the intermission.

The Beacons were slow out of the gates again in the second half as Northwest scored the first ten points to go ahead by 16. NCU was never able to get closer than nine from that point.

The Beacons were led by the hot hand of Allie Kelsey (pictured), leading all scorers with 22 points. Kelsey also collected four of NCU's 12 steals in the contest. Andrea Gloss was the only other player in double-figures for Northwest Christian University, scoring eleven points and team-highs with six rebounds and four blocks.  Frederick finished with six points, five rebounds, and two steals.

Northwest (9-4, 2-1) was led by Domi Mendoza (pictured), scoring 13 points along with six assists as she finished with a trio of three-pointers. Sanda Milovic added 12 points and Chanara Greene finished with ten points, seven rebounds, and five blocks.

The Beacons will play their final game of 2013 tomorrow night when they play host to Evergreen (4-6, 0-3 CCC) at 5:30 pm.
