PORTLAND, Ore. - Concordia took advantage of a cold shooting Warner Pacific team and earned their first Cascade Conference win the season with a 63-56 decision over the Knights tonight.

WPC shot a frosty 16 percent from the floor in the first period while making just five field goals, allowing the visiting Cavaliers (3-11, 1-2 CCC) to post a 32-17 halftime lead. Caitlyn McCutcheon found room in the paint and scored 10 points for CU in the first 20 minutes.

The host Knights (4-9, 0-3 CCC) scored the first 11 points of the second half thanks in part to a pair of three pointers from Jessica Thoens. The run made the score 32-28 and Warner Pacific looked to have momentum, but it was short-lived. A few moments later, Concordia responded with a 13-0 run to take control and claim their largest lead of the night (51-31) with 11:52 to play. Gabi Beyer hit a trio of three-pointers for the Cavs during the surge.

Warner Pacific started to find their scoring touch at that point, outscoring the Cavs 23-10 the rest of the way but the deficit was too much to overcome. WPC managed to improve their shooting accuracy to 30 percent by the end of the contest, but it was not enough to take advantage of 18 offensive rebounds on the night.

Jessica Thoens and Janelle Weiss were the only Knights in double figures with 10 points each. Megan Tullis grabbed a team high seven rebounds off the bench.

Concordia's Beyer and McCutcheon shared game high honors with 14 points each, and McCuteon also had a game high nine rebounds.

COMING UP: Warner Pacific will enjoy a break with their families for Christmas, then will travel to Walla Walla to face Whitman College on December 30.
