EUGENE, Ore.  – In a battle of winless teams in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, it was The Evergreen State College who emerged victorious, scoring a 70-43 win over Northwest Christian University on Saturday night in the Morse Event Center. The Geoducks forced 23 NCU turnovers in the game.

After trading leads four times over the first five minutes of the game, The Geoducks emerged with the lead for the duration on a pair of free throws by Brittany Gray with 14:56 remaining as Evergreen went up 9-8. The Clams were up 12-11 when things began to fall apart for NCU, as the Beacons were outscored 24-4 to close out the half. Sadee Jones (pictured) led all scorers in the first half with ten points for the Geoducks.

Northwest Christian was held without a field goal for over nine minutes, from the 6:39 mark of the first half until the 16:51 point of the second half when Andrea Gloss connected on a layup. For Evergreen it was more of the same in the second half as they pulled away for the 27-point victory.

Northwest Christian (3-8, 0-3 CCC) was led by Gloss (pictured), finishing with 15 points. Hannah Frederick added 11 points while Chantell Stanton came off the bench to produce a team-high four rebounds. The Beacons shot 35% from the field but were just 1-for-13 from three-point range in the contest.

Evergreen (5-6, 1-3) had three players in double-figures, guided at the top by Jones with 14 and nine rebounds. Sammi Clark added 13 points and six assists and Jessica Denmon added ten points, along with nine boards and four steals. The Geoducks shot 43% and out-rebounded the Beacons, 36-31.

The Beacons are off for two weeks and will return to action on January 3, traveling to face No. 17 Southern Oregon University at 5:30 pm. The following night they will take on No. 14 Oregon Tech.
