ROCKLIN, Calif. – Eric Thompson heated up just in time to help the second-ranked Southern Oregon University men's basketball team put away William Jessup in a 70-58 win Monday night at Warrior Arena.

Thompson scored 18 points for the Raiders (14-2 overall), 12 of which came during a late 18-6 run. His 3-pointer with 2 minutes, 40 seconds left capped it, giving the Raiders their largest lead at 62-47.

The Raiders, who never trailed, capped an 11-1 nonleague slate. They've won 12 of their last 13 going into Cascade Conference games against Northwest Christian and Corban on Friday and Saturday at Bob Riehm Arena. Both are scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m.

David Sturner was steady again with 18 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, notching his 11th double-double of the season. Kyle Tedder had 12 points five rebounds and three assists, and Tim Weber contributed nine points and six assists.

The Warriors (6-8 overall) got within three points on four occasions early in the second half, but never after Thompson made five of six shots during the run, including two 3s. He finished 7-for-10 from the field and Sturner was 8-for-10.

The Raiders led 31-21 at halftime.

Corey Clement paced William Jessup with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Caleb Richey and Kelton Newman scored 10 apiece.

The Warriors (6-8 overall) also lost to SOU on Nov. 23 in Klamath Falls, 92-66.
