Husky Classic Recap
Placing second overall in both the 60- and 200-meter dashes, NyEma Sims moved into the No. 4 position on the NAIA Indoor performance list in both events this weekend. Sims clocked in 7.45 in the prelims of the 60 and returned to match the effort in the finals for runner-up honors behind UC Davis’ Ashley Marshall (7.35).
Competing against 63 other sprinters in the 200, Sims was timed in 24.39 for second overall behind a 24-10 from Keshia Baker, a professional competing for Saucany.
Setting a career indoor best, Gabriella Dixson moved into the top spot on the NAIA performance shot put list with a 48-10 1/4 (14.89m) to take third place overall. Dixson shattered her previous indoor best (46-6 3/4) by more than two full feet and now holds the nation’s best distance in the event by a similar margin.
In the weight throw, Dixson was measured in 57-8 1/4 (17.58m) to move into the No. 3 overall in the NAIA. The mark fell just shy of her school record of 57-9 3/4 (17.62m). Bo Johnson, meanwhile, improved upon his season best weight throw with a 60-10 1/2 (18.55m), a distance a single inch short of his career best.
Having already reached the national ‘A’ standard in the 600 and the 800, senior Junia Limage notched her third NAIA Indoor automatic qualifier of the season with a 58.06 in the 400. Limage currently holds the fastest time in the nation at the 800-meter distance.
For the CU men, Matthew Clowes and Nate Moses reached the NAIA automatic standard in their respective standard while Ethan Moore joined the men’s 1,600-meter relay team to reach provisional status.
Clowes clocked the NAIA’s No. 1 time in the 3,000 with an 8:14.83, a time well off his school record of 8:05.05. Competing in the shot put, Moses launched a 53-8 1/2 (16.37m) for the ninth best mark in the NAIA so far this season.
Moore cleared 6-8 in the high jump on his third and final attempt to improve his indoor career best for the second straight meet, upping his 6-5 1/2 effort from two weeks ago to reach the ‘B’ standard.
Finally, the quartet of Jordan Reeher, Demetrius Rhodes, Joshua Bland and Andre Washington toured the track in 2:19.26 for the 1,600 relay to finish just shy of the automatic standard of 3:19.10.

Husky Open Recap
Another likely new No. 1 mark came in a school record performance in the 1,000 by Linsie Michels. Michels crossed the line in 2:48.76 to shatter Junia Limage’s former school record of 2:56.65 which was set in the same arena during the 2011 season.
Improving on her season best by 10 seconds in the 3,000, Mikel Elliott moved up five positions on the NAIA indoor list to No. 3 in the nation.
Adding an NAIA ‘B’ qualifier for the 600, Andre Washington set a two-second career best with a 1:21.25, a time good for No. 2 all-time at CU. Dropping down to the 400, Joshua Bland ran a 50.23 for No. 5 on CU’s all-time indoor list while Jordan Reeher moved to No. 7 on the same list with 50.58 for a one-second indoor personal record (51.80).
Aiming to replace an ‘A’ qualifier with a provisional mark from earlier in the season, Roman Kirkov shaved a half of a second off his season best indoor mile with a 4:21.42, but finished a strides away from the next barrier set at 4:19.40.
The Cavs nearly received a second ‘B’ mark in the 3,000 as Ben Foubert missed the standard by .34 with an 8:44.84.
