Red Lion Players of the Week Announced

The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period of February 4-10.


Doug Thomas
Men’s Basketball
 
Warner Pacific’s Doug Thomas has been chosen the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 4-10.
 
Thomas, a sophomore from Aloha, Ore., averaged 24.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists during road wins over Northwest Christian and Corban.
 
Against Corban, Thomas scored a career high 30 points which included 7 of 11 attempts from three point range.

Nate Moses
Men’s Indoor- Field
 
Concordia’s Nate Moses has been chosen the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for Feb. 4-10.
 
Moses, a junior from Fresno, CA., tossed an NAIA ‘A' qualifier in the shot put with a 53-8 ½  effort at the University of Washington Husky Classic.
 
The mark moves Moses into the top spot among CCC performers and No. 9 in all of the NAIA.

Matthew Clowes
Men’s Indoor-Track
 
Concordia’s Mathew Clowes has been chosen the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Jan. Feb 4-10.
 
Clowes, a sophomore from Stoke-on-Trent, England, clocked an 8:14.83 in the 3000 meters at the University of Washington Husky Classic. The mark moves Clowes to the No. 1 time at the distance in the NAIA.

Ashley Suter
Softball- Pitcher
 
Concordia’s Ashley Suter has been chosen the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week for Feb 4-10.
 
Suter, a senior from Tigard Ore., powered her way through three complete-game wins at the Simpson Tournament to boost Concordia to a 6-0 start to the season.
 
Suter finished the weekend with a 0.86 earned-run average while striking out 17 and walking just four batters in 21 innings.

Laura Luther
Softball- Player
 
Concordia’s Laura Luther has been chosen the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week for Feb 4-10.
 
Luther, a junior from Vancouver, WA., collected at least two hits in five of her first six games to start the season at the Simpson Tournament
 
Luther opened the year with a 2 homerun  game against Menlo College and finished the weekend with a 6.11 batting average in six games and a 1.278 slugging percentage. She led the team with 11 hits, 8 RBI, 3 home runs.

Emily Tsugawa
  Women’s Basketball
 
Corban’s Emily Tsugawa has been chosen the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 4-10.
 
Tsugawa, a senior from Gladstone, Ore., helped lead Corban to a perfect weekend and kept the Warriors in the hunt for a playoff berth.
 
The fourth-year Warrior combined for 43 points, 18 rebounds, 17 assists, and five steals, while shooting a combined 14-of-30 from the field and 8-of-20 from three-point range

Gabriella Dixson
Women’s Indoor-Field
 
Concordia’s Gabriella Dixson has been chosen the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for Feb.4-10.
 
Dixson, a senior from Battle Ground, WA.,  improved on both of her NAIA ‘A' marks with a 48-10 ¼  in the shot put and a 57-8 ¼  toss in the weight throw.
 
Her new distance in the weight throw moves the senior into No. 3 on the NAIA performance list.

Linsie Michels
Women’s Indoor- Track
 
Concordia’s Linsie Michels has been chosen the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Feb 4-10.
 
Michels, a senior from Salem Ore., raced to the No. 1 NAIA time in the 1,000  meters with a 2:48.76 at the University of Washington Husky Classic.
 
 Michels, who had already reached the ‘A' qualifier in the 800 and the mile this season, now has top 3 marks in all three events.
