SALEM, Ore. – After 11 years as the leader of the Warriors, Justin Sherwood resigned Monday as Corban University's head men's basketball coach.

“Coach Sherwood has made a major contribution and been a huge presence as the head coach of Warrior basketball for more than a decade,” said Tim Seiber, Interim Director of Athletics. “We are grateful for him and for his long-standing devotion and integrity as leader of the program. We're glad he will continue to be an integral part of our Corban community and wish him the best in new ventures as well.”

During his time as head coach, Sherwood helped lead Corban to more than 150 wins, including a record-breaking season in 2004-05. Then-Western Baptist finished the 2004-05 season at 28-7 overall and reached the NAIA's No. 1 ranking following a school-record 18-game winning streak to start the year.

Sherwood helped guide the Warriors to the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament seven times during his career that was highlighted with a berth to the 2005 NAIA Division II National Tournament in Point Lookout, Missouri.

Over his career, Sherwood ranks third all-time in total wins and sixth in winning percentage among Corban basketball coaches.

“Coaching basketball for Corban University was an outstanding experience that I enjoyed tremendously,” said Sherwood. “I am grateful for having been given this opportunity as it has allowed me to be a part of the lives of so many great young men.”

Sherwood will remain at Corban as a full-time instructor in the Business Department beginning in the Fall of 2013.
