BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore. – Chelsey Christensen scored 29 points to send Warner Pacific past Northwest University tonight 61-56, moving the Knights into sole possession of 3rd place in the Cascade Conference standings.

Warner Pacific (15-9, 10-4 CCC) opened up an 11 point half-time lead but had to withstand a steady comeback from the visiting Eagles, who slowly chipped away at a second period deficit that reached as many as 15 points.

Tori Carroll scored in the paint to give the host Knights a 49-34 advantage with 17:08 showing on the clock, but that’s when the WP shooters went cold. Northwest (2-20, 1-14 CCC) proceeded to score 10 straight to close the gap to five, and eventually took the lead (56-55) with 2:54 to play thanks to a Domi Medezona layup.

Carroll scored a short jumper on the next possession however, putting WPC ahead and the Knights did not trail again. NU did not score the rest of the way, but Morgan Wolff and Christensen each converted a pair of free throws down the stretch to avoid the upset for Warner Pacific.

Christensen added a game high 10 rebounds to her 29 points, while Carroll finished with 12 counters. Nichole Jackson passed for 10 assists.

Three Eagles scored in double figures, led by Corinne Burke with 12 points off the bench.

The teams shot an identical 19 of 50 from the field for the game.
