Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
LA GRANDE, Ore.-
The following CCC and NAIA West student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period of March 4-10.
Carsen Nylund
Baseball- Pitcher
Lewis-Clark State’s Carsen Nylund has been chosen the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week for March 4-10.
Nylund, a junior from Surrey, British Columbia., threw eight scoreless innings against NAIA West opponent Menlo in the 2-0 victory for the Warriors.
Nylund used just 90 pitches to cut through Menlo's lineup bringing his ERA down to 1.42.

Cody Lavalli
Baseball- Player
Lewis-Clark State’s Cody Lavalli has been chosen the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week for March 4-10.
Lavalli, a junior from Apple Valley, CA., help lead the Warriors to a four game sweep of Menlo in the NAIA West matchup.
Lavalli recorded 8 hits in 17 at bats for an average of.471. His weekend included three doubles and two homeruns.

Dane Walker
Men’s Outdoor- Field
Corban’s Dane Walker has been chosen the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for March 4-10.
Walker a freshman from Anchorage AK., set a pair of school records in the discus (143-10) and hammer (150-3) throw at the Clackamas CC Open.
Walker earned CCC qualifying marks in both events, as he broke his own school records by five feet in the discus and almost 18 feet in the hammer throw.

Jonathan Melton
Men’s Outdoor-Track
Northwest’s Jonathan Melton has been chosen the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for March 4-10.
Melton, a freshman from Mililani, Hawaii, won the 100m with a time of 11.24 and placed second in the 200m at 22.90 at the PLU invite.
Both times earned Melton CCC qualifying times in his first ever collegiate outdoor meet.

Taylor Schmidt
Softball- Pitcher
Oregon Tech’s Taylor Schmidt has been chosen the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 4-10.
Schmidt, a senior from Medford Ore., picked up two wins and a save in three appearances on the mound for the Owls.
Schmidt is now 11-1 on the season with an era of 1.97 leading Oregon Tech to a (20-5, 4-0 CCC) start.

Jess Plummer
Softball- Player
Oregon Tech’s Jess Plummer has been chosen the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week for March 4-10.
Plummer, a senior from Eugene Ore., was a combined 5 for-12 with seven runs scored. Plummer’s weekend included two homeruns, one of which was a grand slam against EOU. She now has 10 homers on the season and a .744 hitting percentage.

Joelle Swanson
Women’s Outdoor-Field
Oregon Tech’s Joelle Swanson has been chosen the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for March 4-10.
Swanson, a sophomore from Grants Pass, Ore., placed first in the javelin at the Lane CC preview.
Swanson hit the NAIA B mark of 40.44 and just missed the NAIA auto standard by .56.

Sora Klopfenstein
Women’s Outdoor- Track
College of Idaho’s Sora Klopfenstein has been chosen the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for March 4-10.
Klopfenstein, a junior from Meridian, Idaho, took first place honors in the 10000 meter race at Pacific Lutheran University Invite.
Her time of 36:59:39 broke the school record and is an NAIA automatic qualifying time.
