POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2012 - 13 Division II Men's Basketball All-America teams. Ra'Shad James of Northwood (Fla.) was named the NABC-NAIA National Player of the Year. The All-America Teams are selected by the NAIA All-America committee.
Six CCC student- athletes were honored led by Player of the Year Stephen Harris of Warner Pacific who was named to the first team. Concordia's Adam Herman was a third team honoree while Anthony Brown (EOU), Michael Greene (NU), Eric Thompson (SOU) and David Sturner (SOU) received Honorable Mention recognition.
James, a 6-foot-1 senior guard from White Plains, N.Y., ranked second in the NAIA in scoring, averaging 23 points per game. The Sun Conference Player of the Year shot 55 percent from the field, 42 percent from beyond the arc, making 50 three-pointers on the year. James also pulled down 6.8 rebounds per game and dished out 81 assists. He helped lead Northwood to The Sun Conference regular season title and a berth in this year's NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship.
The Seahawks ended the year with a 30-4 record. James is the second-consecutive Northwood player to earn this accolade as Jonathan Dunn took home the honor last year.
Of the 10 players selected on the first team, four earned All-America honors in some capacity last year.
