KIRKLAND, Wash. – The NU Eagles defeated Lewis & Clark College 4-2 in the first game and Lewis & Clark came back to win 8-7 in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader today at Everest Park as the teams split their two game series.

In game 1, Hannah Ganfield’s 2-run home run in the bottom of the 4th would lead the NU come back trailing 2-1 going into the inning. Lewis & Clark took an early 2-0 lead on Hannah Dal Pra’s 2 run home run in the top of the first inning. Northwest cut the L&C lead to one run as they scored 1 run in the bottom of the 2nd as Brittany Bovard scored on a fielder’s choice. Lewis & Clark managed to get out of the inning giving up the lone run as Northwest left 3 runners on base. After Ganfield’s round tripper in the 4th, Brittany Bovard hit a 3-0 pitch over the right field fence for an insurance run as Eagle pitcher Kelli Peckham picked up the victory with a 5 hitter.

Hannah Ganfield and Brittany Bovard led Northwest (5-22) with Ganfield going 3 for 4 from the plate and Bovard batting 3 for 3.  Peckham struck out 6 giving up 2 runs on the five Lewis & Clark hits.

Hannah Del Pra went 1 for 3 including the home run for Lewis & Clark (11-18).

"Very impressive performances all around in this game," said John Bacon, Eagle head coach, "Kelli (Peckham) threw an amazing game. Despite getting down early, she threw hard and worked with our plan. Our defense was strong but our offense came alive. Hannah Ganfield gave us the lead with her home run, but Brittany Bovard was especially hot. 3 for 3 with a home run--the first of her entire career."

Game 2: Hannah Dal Pra turned the tables on Northwest in the second game as her grand slam home run in the top of the second would help propel the Pioneers to an 8-7 come-from-behind victory over Northwest. NU took an 6-0 lead scoring 3 runs in the bottom half of innings one and two keyed by Vanessa Ahrendt’s 3-run home run in the bottom of the 2nd inning.
