PORTLAND—The Concordia women’s golf team leads the Concordia Classic by 44 strokes after two rounds at Columbia Edgewater Country Club Monday, while the Cavs’ Madison Alamillo leads the tournament by two strokes as an individual.
The Cavaliers rank as the only team under 700 through the first two rounds, as they shot 681 (340-341) after the first day. Warner Pacific ranks second behind the Cavs at 725 (358-367), while Northwest Christian and North Idaho Community College rank third and fourth at 731 (367-364) and 783 (402-381), respectively.
Individually, Alamillo carded the only round in the 70s during the first two rounds, and leads the tournament by two strokes at 165 (79-86). Alamillo leads Northwest Christian’s Haley Patridge after the first day, as Patridge stands alone in in second overall at 167 (84-83).
The Cavs’ four other golfers rank in the top 10 as well, with Sunny Powers second on the team and fifth overall at 169 (87-82), Gibbons sixth at 173 (90-83), Holly Winburn tied for seventh at 174 (84-90) and Patricia Little 10th at 186 (94-92).
In addition, Brenda Fasse, Kayla Kirk and Tia Tsugawa competed as individuals at the tournament and finished the first day ranked in the top 20. Fasse finished the first day 15th overall at 202 (103-99), while Kirk (94-109—203) and Tsugawa (99-104—203) each finished one stroke behind at 17th overall.
The tournament will conclude with a final round at Heron Lakes Golf Club on Tuesday, April 2.
