The following CCC and NAIA West student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period of  April 8-14.
 
Men’s Outdoor- Field
 
Concordia’s Willy Irwin has been chosen the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for April 8-14.
 
Irwin, a sophomore from Clovis, CA., collected a stadium record in the shot put. The NAIA national leader in the event, Irwin nearly matched his season best which shattered the stadium record at Willamette University last week with a 62-6 (19.05m) at Western Oregon University's McArthur Field on Friday. Irwin, the NAIA indoor national champion, currently ranks No. 23 in the U.S. according to Track & Field News. In the discus, Irwin added to his season best by almost eight feet with a 188-8 (57.46m) toss. The distance remains the No. 2 mark in the NAIA behind Doane's (Neb.) Zack Lindsley (193-2).

Men’s Outdoor-Track
 
Oregon Tech’s Paul Adams has been chosen the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for April 8-14.
 
Adams, a freshman from Klamath Falls, Ore., set a new school record in the 5000m at the Chico Twilight and Distance Carnival.  His time of 15:00.26 was six seconds faster than the previous record and just one second off the NAIA B qualifying time.

Women’s Outdoor-Field
Concordia’s Gabriella Dixson has been chosen the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for April 8-14.
 
Dixson, a senior from Battle Ground, Wash., already the NAIA leader in the discus, moved into the No. 1 spot in the shot put with a season-best toss of 49-7 3/4 which placed first at the Western Oregon John Knight Twilight last week. Dixson entered the week ranked second behind Hasting's (Neb.) Jennifer Maag (48-11 1/2). With a 160-1 (48.80m) in the discus, Dixson placed second overall in the event behind the University of Oregon's Laura Bobek. Meanwhile her fifth-place finish in the hammer was behind a pair of post-collegians, Oregon's Jillian Weir and the 2012 NAIA national champion Sharayah Kenady. Dixson is ranked No. 4 in the NAIA in the hammer in addition to her top makes in the shot and the discus.

Women’s Outdoor- Track
 
Concordia’s Linsie Michels has been chosen the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for April 8-14.
 
Michels, a senior from Salem, Ore., highlighted action on the track for the Cavs by touring two laps of the track in 2:13.03 for a four-second win. The mark, ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, fell just under the NAIA 'A' barrier of 2:14.50 which gives Michels automatic entry in her second event after posting the NAIA's No. 2 time in the 1,500 earlier this season.

Softball- Pitcher
 
College of Idaho’s Nickayla Skinner has been chosen the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 8-14.
 
Skinner, a junior from Mountain Home, Idaho, tossed her second career-no hitter in a 5-0 victory over Northwest Christian, then followed with a two-hit shutout over No. 8 Corban.  She went 3-0 in four appearances for the ‘Yotes, allowing just 10 sits in 23.2 innings with 34 strikeouts.

Softball- Player
 
College of Idaho’s Katie Rowe has been chosen the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week for April 8-14.
 
Rowe, a freshman from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, hit safely in all six games during the week with 6-of-11 hits going for extra bases.  Her six RBIs in an 18-0 win over No. 8 Corban tied the College of Idaho school record.

Baseball- Pitcher
 
Concordia’s Eddie Crowe has been chosen the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week for April 8-14.
 
Crowe, a junior from Newport, Ore., threw eight shutout innings as the Concordia baseball snapped Menlo's 10-game winning streak by beating the Oaks 1-0 at Porter Park on Friday. Crowe dominated from the mound in the game, as the junior pitcher gave up only two hits to a team that came into the game hitting .326 in league games this season. Crowe only put eight runners on in the game overall, and contrasted that with nine strikeouts. The Oaks hit .077 for the game against the junior left-hander.

Baseball- Player
 
Lewis-Clark State’s Cody Lavalli has been chosen the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week for April 8-14.
 
Lavalli, a junior from Apple Valley, Calif., had a huge series against Simpson, including a home run which broke a 2-2 tie in Sunday's 4-2 win. His homer on Saturday was hit through a 30-mph wind, and came in a game where he finished a single short of the cycle. He now leads the Warriors with seven homers, and is second in batting average (.385).

Men’s Golf
 
Warner Pacific’s Andrew Johnson has been chosen the Red Lion Men’s Golfer of the Week for April 8-14.
 
Johnson, a senior from Brush Prairie, Wash., rebounded from a rough first round at the College of Idaho Invite, scoring 73 in both the second and third rounds to win the individual medal. It was his third career tournament victory.

Women’s Golf
 
College of Idaho’s Trish Gibbens has been chosen the Red Lion Women’s Golfer of the Week for April 8-14.
 
Gibbens, a senior from Caldwell, Idaho, earned Medalist honors at C of I Invitational, recording two of the three lowest rounds of the tournament, despite ridiculously windy conditions.
