Concordia Earns Title, WP's Johnson Medalist at C of I Invite
WILDER, Idaho – Andrew Johnson of Warner Pacific shot a final round 73 to claim the individual title, while Concordia University rolled to a 16-stroke victory in the team race at the College of Idaho Invitational at River Bend Golf Course.
Final Results
Johnson, who shot a first round 84, rallied with back-to-back 73s in extremely windy conditions to earn the crown by one stroke over Northwest Christian’s Tyler Falk and two strokes over Rocky Mountain’s Daniel Thompsett. Falk had a share of the lead heading into the day, but shot a three-over 75 over the final 18, with Thompsett closing with a one-under 71, the lowest round of the tournament.
Concordia was consistent throughout, recording a team score of 307 in today’s round to finish with a 54-hole total of 940, ahead of Corban, RMC, and Warner Pacific. The Cavs had three players in the Top-10, with Tanner Maahs in fourth (233) and Jed Dalton and Kolton Kyne both in seventh (234).
Corban was paced by Jared Lambert, who finished in a three-way tie for fourth (233), helping the Warriors to a team score of 956, with Rocky riding Thompsett to a team total of 964 and WPC using Johnson’s title to a team score of 965.
Spencer Skipper finished fourth (233), leading North Idaho College to a fifth place finish (967), with Nick Hardy and Justin McAfee each shooting 242s to help Northwest Nazarene finish sixth (973).
Tanner Kopan placed tenth (237) to lead Westminster to a seventh-place finish (976), with Falk helping NCU finish eighth (998).
The host Coyotes finished ninth (1,005), led by Kyle DeLorey (234) in seventh – as the junior carded a final round 78 after having a share of the second round lead.
The Cascade Conference teams close out the regular season next week with the CCC Championships at Diamond Woods Golf Course.
