Rae Named Sports Information Director at Eastern Oregon University 6/24/2013 12:26:08 PM LA GRANDE – Eastern Oregon University Athletic Director Anji Weissenfluh announced today that Travis Rae has been hired as the new Sports Information Director for the Mountaineers. Rae joins the Eastern staff after spending the past year as a Sports Information Intern with the NAIA in Kansas City, Missouri. "I am so excited about the addition of Travis to our staff," remarked Weissenfluh. "His knowledge of the NAIA, plus his background at Cardinal Stritch makes him highly qualified for this position. Our department is extremely excited for him to join the Mountaineer family." Rae brings a varied background of Sports Information experience with him to the position. "I am really excited to be coming out here to Eastern Oregon," expressed Rae. "The coaches that I have met are wonderful and the school has excellent sports teams. I am super excited." While with the Sports Information Department at the NAIA National Office, Rae was the ranking coordinator and media contact, including national coverage for Women's Division II Basketball, Cross Country, Swimming and Diving, Tennis, Volleyball, and Women's Golf. Before joining the NAIA staff, Rae spent two years at Cardinal Stritch University, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a Graduate Assistant in the Sports Information Department. During his time with the Wolves, he was responsible for website updates, game stories, and statistics for a variety of sports. Prior to his time at Cardinal Stritch, Rae spent two years as a Sports Information Intern at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. In his time at Parkside, he worked with game day operations, games notes, and updating the school's athletic website. Rae spent his summers and a winter gaining knowledge working at the professional and summer league level. During the 2011-2012 hockey season, he worked as a Communications Intern for the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. In his season with the Admirals, Rae spent time working on the teams yearbook/media guide, representing the organization at the various community festivals around the city of Milwaukee, and updating the teams website. During the 2010 indoor football season, he worked as a Media Relations Intern for the Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League. He also spent two summers working with the collegiate summer baseball league in the upper midwest. His first season was spent with the Green Bay Bullfrogs and then the second season with the Northwoods League office. Rae is a native of Rice Lake, Wisconsin and earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Sports Management. He also has a Master's Degree in Sports Management from Cardinal Stritch University.
